A turtle on the beach.

Turtle Foundation

All turtle species worldwide are threatened with extinction. One of the biggest threats to these fascinating sea creatures is plastic pollution of the oceans and beaches.

Our support for the Turtle Foundation

The turtles often mistake pieces of plastic for food, which can lead to serious injury or even death. To counteract these challenges, the Turtle Foundation is working specifically to protect endangered sea turtles and their habitat.

2025

The nesting season on the Cape Verdean island of Boa Vista began in June - and with it the tireless efforts of the Turtle Foundation to protect the loggerhead turtle. We at the proWIN pro nature Foundation have also supported the project again this year: With a grant of €1,000, we were able to ensure that the conservation camps were set up and supplied for the start of the season.

Solid basic supplies are essential for the Turtle Foundation's ranger teams to be able to start their work reliably. Our financial support was used specifically for food, drinking water and camp equipment - essential items so that the five camps on Boa Vista could be set up in time for the nesting season.

With our support, we want to make a contribution to ensuring that these ancient sea creatures continue to find their way to the beaches of Boa Vista in the future - to give new life. The Turtle Foundation impressively demonstrates how effective nature conservation can be on the ground - with commitment, expertise and the support of many partners. In our picture gallery you will find current impressions directly from the camps.

2024

In 2024, we were once again able to support the Turtle Foundation with a generous donation of 1,000 euros! The donation money was used to make an important project possible on 30.08.2024: a beach clean-up on the beach of Boa Vista in Cape Verde.

The clean-up took place in the Reserve Natural de Boa Esperança nature reserve, an important conservation area for turtles. A total of 25 dedicated participants helped for over four hours to free the beach from its critical condition and collect as much plastic waste, fishing nets and other beach debris as possible. Thanks to the great efforts of everyone involved, an incredible 1,477 kg of plastic waste and other garbage was collected!

The donations were used to finance the Beach Clean Up so that all the costs of the project could be covered - from waste disposal and equipment for the litter collection to administrative costs and catering for the participants. As a result, the Beach Clean Up was a success and had a positive impact on the environment and the endangered sea turtles.

We are proud to have the Turtle Foundation as a partner who is so committed to protecting the oceans and their inhabitants. This project shows how effective such initiatives can be and that every contribution counts towards making our world a little bit better.
