Habach farmhouse
Learning from the past, shaping the future - support for the Habach farmhouse.
The Habach farmhouse in the municipality of Eppelborn is much more than a listed building - it is a window into the past, a place where 19th to mid-20th century agriculture comes to life. The southwest German farmhouse impressively conveys how people used to live and work. However, not only the house itself, but also the accompanying farm garden plays an important role in preserving this cultural heritage.
Cottage garden from the past
After several years of renovation, the garden no longer corresponds to its original use and design. Together with the expert support of the gardeners from the district of Neunkirchen and the Langhirt tree nursery, it is now to be replanted. The aim is to create a wide variety of species and varieties that will make the garden a lively place to learn and experience. Visitors - especially children's groups and school classes - will be able to experience what an authentic kitchen and flower garden of the time looked like.
Our foundation is pleased to support this valuable project of the Foundation Cultural Heritage Community Eppelborn with an amount of 500 euros. These funds will help to replace the topsoil, plant espalier fruit trees and create new beds with over 30 plant species. The newly designed garden will not only contribute to enriching the cultural offerings in the region, but will also be open to hikers and walkers as a freely accessible educational and nature experience site. A particular highlight of the project is also the expansion of biodiversity. Together with the existing insect hotels, a valuable habitat will be created here, which will also contribute to ecological diversity.
Why is this project so important?
The combination of history and sustainability makes the Habach farmhouse a unique place. It shows in an impressive way how much we can learn from the past for our future. By preserving old traditions and at the same time integrating modern, nature-oriented approaches, we are creating a place that combines education, culture and nature. We are proud to be part of this wonderful project and look forward to following the development of the garden and its positive effects on the region.
