St. Georg Catholic daycare center

We are delighted to be able to support the St. Georg Catholic daycare center in their project "Our daycare garden - a journey of discovery with holistic experiences" with 500 euros.
The lovingly designed nursery garden offers the 95 children aged 1 to 6 the opportunity to experience nature up close, take responsibility and learn valuable environmental education.

A garden of discoveries and responsibility

The nursery garden is more than just a place to play. With two raised beds - one for the kindergarten children and a lower one for the crèche children - the children learn to plant and care for plants and herbs every day: nasturtiums, mint, lettuce and radishes thrive under the watchful eyes of the little gardeners. In this way, the children playfully learn about the cycle of nature and experience how small seeds grow into large plants.

Apple tree and herb train - learning with all the senses

A special highlight in the daycare center's garden is the newly planted apple tree, which has already borne its first fruit this fall. The children are delighted with the fruit, as they not only planted the tree themselves, but also looked after it. This apple tree is a wonderful example for the children of how patience and care can bear fruit - in the truest sense of the word!

In addition, there is a herb bed in the garden where chives, mint and parsley grow. These herbs are used by the children during snack time or when preparing drinks, which also playfully integrates healthy eating into everyday life.

Insect hotels and environmental education

In addition to plants and herbs, insect hotels also have a permanent place in the nursery garden. They provide shelter for bees and other insects. The children observe how the small animals enliven the garden and learn how important insects are for nature.

Holistic education and sustainability

The "Our daycare garden" project is an excellent example of holistic learning. Direct contact with nature awakens the children's curiosity and strengthens their sense of responsibility for the environment. In addition, the garden not only offers the children the opportunity to look after the plants, but also stimulates their creativity and imagination - be it by observing the seasons or inventing stories to tell on the story bench.

With the 500 euros, we have helped to further expand the project and support the children's environmental education. The purchase of materials such as watering cans, shovels, buckets and aprons enables the children to actively participate in this sustainable project and gain valuable experience.
