NatureLAB St. Wendel e.V.

NatureLAB St. Wendel e.V. is much more than an association - it is a movement that has arisen from the passion and commitment of the citizens of St. Wendel. The aim: to create and restore habitats in which biodiversity can flourish and sustainable ecosystems can develop.

Our support flows into important projects that promote active nature and species conservation. Together with local partners, the members of NatureLAB St. Wendel e.V. are committed to protecting endangered animal and plant species and promoting biodiversity in our region. A central area of this commitment is the "Nature as a place of learning", through which children and young people are inspired and sensitized to the diversity and beauty of nature.

An important main project area of NatureLAB St. Wendel e.V. is located in the Saar-Hunsrück Nature Park, particularly in the Oster valley and some tributary valleys, some of which are designated as Natura 2000 protected areas. This area includes meadows and wetlands, which are of crucial importance for the conservation and maintenance of endangered species. The wetlands in particular play a central role, as they serve as a habitat for numerous plant and animal species, including birds, amphibians and insects.

A central concern of NatureLAB St. Wendel e.V. is the protection of endangered species and the preservation of biodiversity. Targeted measures such as the maintenance and creation of meadow ditches, ponds and pools as well as the provision of habitats for ground-nesting birds and other specialized species actively contribute to the promotion of biodiversity.

Cooperation with schools and nurseries is another important part of the work of NatureLAB St. Wendel e.V. Through projects such as "nature school lessons" and excursions, children and young people are directly involved in nature conservation and sensitized to the environment. These educational measures help to raise awareness of the importance of nature and its conservation.
