Hamburg Wadden Sea National Park
As part of our donation campaign "Your VAT benefit for a good cause", the proWIN pro nature foundation is pleased to support the Hamburg Wadden Sea National Park with an annual donation of 28,888.89 euros since 2021.
This important funding will be granted over a period of five years to ensure the protection and conservation of this unique natural area.
The Hamburg Wadden Sea National Park, founded in 1990, is the smallest of the three Wadden Sea national parks, but it is characterized by the largest proportion of wilderness (over 90 %) in its area. It has been a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1992 and part of the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site since 2011. The park includes the Wadden Sea as well as the island of Neuwerk and the dune islands of Scharhörn and Nigehörn.
The national park's motto "Let nature be nature!" underlines its efforts to preserve the natural dynamics and habitats of the Wadden Sea. Nevertheless, monitoring, research and educational work are crucial tools for preserving and protecting the park in its entirety.
Thanks to our donation, three important projects could be realized in 2023:
- Insektenmonitoring: Das Insektenmonitoring im Nationalpark zielt darauf ab, repräsentative Daten zu Langzeitveränderungen bei der Insektenfauna zu erfassen. Dies ist ein Teil eines bundesweiten Programms, das vom Bundesamt für Naturschutz (BfN) initiiert wurde. Diese Daten sind entscheidend, um den Zustand und die Entwicklung der Insektenpopulationen zu verstehen und effektive Schutzmaßnahmen zu entwickeln. Im Jahr 2023 wurden für dieses Projekt 4.700 Euro bereitgestellt.
- Vogelgrippe-Monitoring: Von Frühjahr bis Spätsommer 2023 war der Nationalpark erneut von der Vogelgrippe betroffen. Um die Verbreitung der Krankheit zu minimieren, wurde ein umfassendes Monitoring und die Sammlung betroffener Vögel durchgeführt. Dies war besonders wichtig, um die Auswirkungen auf Arten wie die Lachmöwen und Brandseeschwalben zu kontrollieren. Für dieses Projekt wurden 4.000 Euro bereitgestellt.
- Reparatur des Tide-Aquariums: Das Tide-Aquarium in der Wattenmeer-Ausstellung ist ein zentrales Element der Umweltbildung im Nationalpark. Es war defekt und wurde im Jahr 2023 umfassend repariert. Die Dichtungen und die Pumpe wurden instandgesetzt, sodass Besucher bald wieder die faszinierende Tierwelt des Wattenmeers erleben können. Für die Reparaturen wurden 22.814 Euro aufgewendet.
