Grazing project Hahnwiese
Grazing project with the effect of increasing the number of plant and animal species.
2021: Increase in plant and animal species
The Zweckverband Landschaft der Industriekultur Nord has started the first phase of a year-round grazing project with the landscape laboratory "Bird migration and wild pastures" around the Hahnwiese sinking pond. The aim is to use robust cattle and horses to develop a landscape that is equally attractive for people and nature. The aim is to increase the number of species of flora and fauna - it will also enhance the local recreational effect of these areas. This is the second time that the proWIN pro nature Foundation has supported this project.
2020: Settlement of cattle and horses
The aim is to use robust cattle and horses to develop a landscape that is equally attractive for people and nature. The effect of increasing the number of species of flora and fauna as a result of grazing with relatively few animals per area will certainly enhance the local recreational effect of these areas and will be met with great enthusiasm and appreciation by the local population. Taurus cattle (a back-breeding of the aurochs), which originate from a protected area on the River Lippe (NRW), and Exmoor ponies were selected as suitable cattle breeds.
