Stefan Forster
Stefan Forster is a beekeeper and is involved in environmental education together with the proWIN pro nature Foundation.
Bee mortality has taken on dramatic proportions in recent years. It is the result of a drastic reduction in the supply of flowers, a lack of nesting opportunities, increasing environmental pollution and the massive use of pesticides. In spring 2016, proWIN Winter GmbH and its proWIN pro nature foundation therefore launched a large-scale and, above all, long-term rescue project for bees.
St Ambrose (patron saint of beekeepers)
An important part of this project is the supervising beekeeper Stefan Forster, who looks after the care and health of the beehives. He is also heavily involved in environmental education: In kindergartens and schools, he tells young listeners exciting stories about his favourite animals and their important role in our ecosystem. This is where the tried-and-tested "nature you can touch" concept comes into play. proWIN has had a bee educational trolley with a display case made for proWIN pro nature. This allows visitors to look into the inner sanctum of the beehive without risking being stung by overly curious visitors and, above all, without disturbing the animals.
The aim is to make even the youngest members of our society aware that these hard-working animals are much more than just honey producers. Because: experience creates connection. Connection creates understanding. Understanding for those who need our protection.
