On May 22 and 23, 2025, the schoolyard of the Staatliche Förderschule Sprache in Sulzbach/Saar became a special place of learning. As part of the "International Day of Biodiversity", the pupils in classes 172a, b and c were all about bees. They were joined by our proWIN bee van and beekeeper Werner Paul, who enthusiastically imparted theoretical knowledge and practical action on the subject of bees.
Our proWIN pro nature foundation supported this educational project by providing the proWIN bee wagon and covering the costs of nesting aids and beeswax candles, which were made together with the children.

Humming education for the "International Day of Biodiversity"
Understanding bees - protecting nature
On the first day of the project, the children learned more about the life of bees, their importance for our ecosystem and the background to honey production through exciting stories, illustrative materials and an informative film. It quickly became clear that the protection of bees is not a niche topic, but a central task for our future.
The second day was dedicated entirely to practical activities. Together with the beekeeper, the children built nesting aids that will provide a safe haven for wild bees in the future. Another highlight was making their own beeswax candles.

A contribution to education for sustainable development
The project makes a valuable contribution to education for sustainable development (ESD). It not only promotes knowledge about ecological relationships, but also practical action and a sense of responsibility - key elements in sensitizing children to environmental protection and nature conservation at an early age.
We at the proWIN pro nature Foundation are delighted to have been able to support and accompany this project. Such collaborations show how lively and effective environmental education can be - and how important it is to enable young people to experience nature in a positive way.
