In June 2025, the proWIN pro nature Foundation supported the "Animal Hoarding - Prevention Measures" project of the German Animal Welfare Association with €20,000.
As project sponsors, our proWIN sales partners Sina and Thomas Burger handed over the symbolic donation cheque and got to know the project in person.

What is the project about?
Animal hoarding - the abnormal collection of animals - is a serious animal welfare problem. Cases are often only reported very late, when animal populations have already reached an unacceptable level. Taking in affected animals through animal shelters only solves the symptoms, not the causes. Many of those affected acquire animals again after interventions without any lasting change occurring.
The German Animal Welfare Association has been collecting data on animal hoarding for more than ten years and now wants to gain a better understanding of the causes and psychological background through scientifically based interviews with those affected. The aim is to develop targeted preventative measures that help to take countermeasures at an early stage - before animals have to suffer.
